Innovation potential of the Košice region

Innovation potential of the Košice region

The Košice region is largely interested in incentives for the development of an already existing regional research and innovation ecosystem. And this through initiatives in battery and hydrogen technologies. They are currently not only an ambitious but also successful project demonstrated by the activities of The European Alliance for Batteries and the foundation of The Slovak Alliance for Batteries.

The company InoBat is the initiator of the development, research and production project of batteries for electromobility in the Košice region. Its ambition is to provide new energy solutions to the European market as well as to the Asian market. The project aims to involve educational and scientific institutions in the Košice region - The Technical University of Košice, The Pavel Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and the Slovak Academy of Sciences who plan to use the Promatech Center - Research Center for advanced materials and technologies for further research and educational activities. The project will be carried out under the institutional aegis of the Košice region, the main task of which will be to ensure the transfer of technology and the spread of developed technology beyond the borders of the Slovak Republic.

Košice Region Brussels Office, during its short existence, launched activities and created a base to implement initiatives already launched by the president of the region with the aim of attracting investment in the electromobility sector in the Košice region. The Representation also follows global trends regarding the use of hydrogen and its potential to become a major energy raw material, with positive effects on the environment. The Košice region is developing public policies in the field of hydrogen technologies in the interest of society's transition to a green economy.
