European Week of Regions and Cities
On October 8, 2019 Košice Self-governing region successfully started its active participation in the European Week of Regions and Cities. Representatives of the Košice Self-governing region, the city of Košice and the Volunteer center of the Košice region together with partner regions from Italy and Serbia organized a workshop entitled Solidarity and Volunteering – European Rights and Values from the bottom up. The workshop aimed at sharing experiences and local and regional strategies to support volunteering activities and examples of good practices in the field of volunteering.
Given the importance of the event and its benefits, The Košice Self-governing region has decided to participate in the European Week of Regions and Cities again in 2020. This year, the thematic content of workshop in cooperation with partner regions will address the issue of ´´Green Europe ´´in which the Košice Self-governing region will present regional initiatives and activities aimed at meeting the ´´Sustainable Development Goals´´. In response to the negative effects of climate change and the EU economic transition initiative to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent, the Košice Self-governing region wants to draw attention to the potential of using hydrogen technology through a Hydrogen Strategy developed in collaboration with academic and scientific partners, ´´Landscape recovery plan´´ in the Košice Region or an ambitious plan for energy efficiency and renovation of public buildings.
