Priorities and activities of Košice Region Brussels Office
Within its activities, Košice Region Brussels Office has set several priorities:
1. Representation and presentation of the Košice Self-governing region in relation to the EU institutions
Thanks to its active presence and proximity to the EU institutions, one of the priorities of Košice Region Brussels Office is to raise the profile of the Košice region at European level, strengthen its position within the EU and use all available means to promote stable and long-term cooperation with other European regions and partners from European institutions in order to achieve sustainable development of the region and increase the living standards of its citizens.
2. Search for investment opportunities and partners in the field of science, technology and innovations
Another priority of Košice Region Brussels Office is to present the Košice region as a place which with its technological, innovative and business visions and young human talents represents an ideal place for investment projects. The Office also acts as a mediator of relevant information on current project and grant calls of European institutions in order to involve as many entities of the Košice region as possible in European competitions. Monitoring the European Commission's calls will result in a potential streamlining of the use of European Structural and Investment Funds aimed at intensifying the development of region and reducing regional disparities which remain the second highest after the United Kingdom.
3. Involvement of the Košice Self-governing region in the regional networks
Thanks to the membership of the Košice Self-governing region in the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the Assembly of European Regions (AER) the region presents itself as an equal regional partner ready to establish cooperation in a wide range of areas.
4. Cohesion policy
The vast majority of EU policies have a direct but also an indirect impact on regions, cities, municipalities and their socio-economic partners. Therefore, influencing the drafting of legislation and entering into the decision-making process and negotiations directly in Brussels through the activities of Košice Region Brussels Office make the development of the region more efficient and faster. Early intervention in the negotiation processes and direct communication with other European regions operating in Brussels, especially in the context of cohesion policy, increases the likelihood of creating favorable conditions for development and investment in the region.
