Benefits of the Permanent Representation of the Košice Self-governing region to the EU in Brussels
The main benefit of the Permanent Representation of the Košice Self-governing region to the EU in Brussels is to improve the effective drawing of European Structural and Investment Funds, to monitor project opportunities and calls for funding, to comment and thus influence the creation of EU legislation (based on the fact that 70% of EU legislation has a direct impact on the regional and local level) and last but not least to promote the interests of the Košice Self-governing region and to take part in the European Commission´s programs for regional development.
Taking into account the growing number and complexity of European legislation, the current setting and negotiation of the new programming period as well as the allocated funds, the presence of Košice Region Brussels Office is of key importance. This is primarily a matter of fulfilling the urgent need to be directly at the source of information about the financial and development opportunities that the European Union offers and the real ability to use them as effectively and correctly as possible for the benefit of the region. Only someone who knows how to search and process information can benefit from it.
Thanks to its membership of the Committee of the Regions, the Assembly of European Regions and also as an actor in the regional platforms based in Brussels, Košice Self-governing region increases its potential to be visible at European level, to reach out to legislators and investors and finally to gain access to key data and innovations which it subsequently implements within its own regional activities for the benefit of its own citizens and regional development.
Following the information mentioned above, the role of Košice Region Brussels Office is to establish contacts with European institutions such as the European Parliament, especially with Slovak deputies and the European Commission. Košice Self-governing region is open to networking and sharing experiences with all those engaged in EU affairs including Slovak companies operating within the region, regional partners, investors, lobbyists, consultants, academics and the media.
